Having knowledge of these terms for nutrition will allow an individual to make better choices in the foods they consume easier. Example: Food Nutrients Proteins: core essential element of tissues and organs of a body. Proteins consist of amino acids. Carbohydrates: nutrients that give the human body energy. Both sugars and starches are a form of carbohydrate. Fats: Fats give the body energy Fiber: Essential part of the human diet fiber is the fundamental substance plants are made up of that is difficult for us to understand.
