Painting Analysis & Reflection HUMN 303 Introduction to Humanities Chamberlain University September Session The artist I chose is Frida Kahlo and the painting’s name henry ford hospital created in 1932. Frida had a very rough life filled with tragedy no doubt. According to Schon (1992) “at the age of just 6 years old she had polio which left her with a limp. At the age of 18 she was riding the bus when there was an accident and a steel handrail implanted through her. (p. 158). She later found out she would never bear children because of this accident. At the beginning of this paper I was very confused as to what artistic movement truly meant for Frida. Stated perfectly by Fields (2012) “feminist art movement refers to the efforts and accomplishments of feminists internationally to produce art that reflects women's lives and experiences, as well as to change the foundation for the production and reception of contemporary art.” (p. 3).
