Date Euthanasia, defined by the (Oxford Languages Dictionary n.d) as the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma, has been a controversial topic, especially in a society that values youth and productivity, and abhors any kind of dependency or inconvenience. Those seeking euthanasia usually feel like they are or will be a burden, both emotionally and financially as well as face indignity and pain toward the very worst of their disease processes. Xavier has been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. This is a progressive neurological disease affecting one physical, cognitive, and psychiatric abilities, that in the end, will leave one unable to do anything for themselves, including eating, walking, or talking. A lot of patients with deaths from Huntington’s commit suicide due to the impending symptoms and the psychiatric symptoms (depression, obsessiveness, anxiety, apathy, and agitation) which occur in the early stages of the disease. He watched his father die from the disease, and knowing he had a 50%chance of inheriting it and passing it on, he chose to not have children. He is a highly successful lawyer and outdoorsman, and the thought that he will lose his ability to do what he loves and wither away at a nursing home
