PHIL 347 Week 7 Course Project; Argumentative Paper
Argumentative Paper: Immigration Student Name Chamberlain College of Nursing PHIL 347N Assignment Date Immigration The immigrant population in the United States (U.S.) is the largest than any other country in the world (Budiman, 2020). According to Budiman (2020), more than 40 million people born in other counties are now living in the U.S. Immigrants account for nearly 13.7 percent of the population, tripling the immigration census since 1970 (Budiman, 2020). This country was built on the backs of immigrants, leaving their homelands, seeking a better life and opportunity for themselves and their loved ones. They fled dictatorship and communist counties to avoid oppression, tyranny, and economic poverty. The question to be asked: Why is a country built on and by immigrates so unwelcoming to immigrants and their families? Is there a difference in acceptance between immigrants from European counties and those from Spanish-speaking counties? Do Native-born Americans believe immigrants are ruining the U.S economy and stealing jobs from U.S citizens? Unfortunately, this current Presidential Administration plays on the emotions and fears of the American people by implanting negative views on immigrants (Wydick, 2018). According to Wydick (2018), President Trump’s statements are used to change the American people's minds against immigration, even if his word has no truth. According to Sherman, Trisi, Stone, Gonzales, and Parrott (2019), immigrants make up a substantial share of the U.S workforce in different industries. One- third of immigrants work in farming, fishing, and forestry; twenty-five percent are in computer and math science, and over four million immigrants provide services in healthcare and social services (Sherman, Trisi, Stone,
